This amazing piece of art pottery dates from the 1950s, hand painted by the artist Marmaca, who worked in San Marino during this time. Fully marked to the base. The pieces itself is a large jug which is split in two down the centre, with two pouring spouts. Smaller examples are often used for oil and vinegar - this is banquet sized!
It is beautifully decorated to both sides, one with a floral scene, the other is architectural. To highlight the black and white designs there is a band of deep green to the top. The piece has two small nicks on the rim of one side, but no significant damage, and is fully usable. It measures 5 1/2 inches high, and 8 1/2 inches from spout to handle. |
